Goals from Luke Chambers, David McGoldrick and Daryl Murphy (pen) saw the Blues to a 3-0 victory over Colchester at the Weston Homes Community Stadium and maintained their 100% record in pre-season. Town were well on top in a first half and were two goals up at the break with Murphy adding the third from the spot after he had been fouled in a half in which the U’s presented a greater threat. |
McCarthy Chasing Vital Three Points Tue 16th Apr 2013 06:00
The Blues go into tonight’s home game against Crystal Palace looking for the three points which manager Mick McCarthy expects will be enough to guarantee Championship football during 2013/14. Town currently sit in 17th place on 53 points, four from the drop zone with four matches left to play. |

Manager Mick McCarthy will be without strikers David McGoldrick and Aaron Mclean for Saturday’s home game against Hull City. McGoldrick’s 93-day loan from Nottingham Forest is up and Mclean is unavailable against his parent club, while midfielder Lee Martin and defender Reece Brown again look set to miss out due to illness. |

David McGoldrick scored twice and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas once as Town beat 10-man Leeds 3-0 at Portman Road. The visitors had been on top until defender Tom Lees was red-carded for a reckless challenge on Jay Tabb just after the half hour, McGoldrick netting either side of the break and sub Emmanuel-Thomas completing the scoring. |

Town and Huddersfield shared the points from a scrappy and scruffy 0-0 draw at the John Smith’s Stadium. The Terriers had the game’s two significant chances with Lee Novak shooting wide when well placed in the first half, then after the break Stephen Henderson blocked from the striker and then the rebound from midfielder Neil Danns. |
